Welcome to Sun Tzu's Classroom

Welcome to Sun Tzu in the Classroom,

The purpose of this blog is to explore the applications of The Art of War to the battlefield of modern education, with a focus on the United States.

Though I am not a scholar of Sun Tzu, or the Chinese culture and the religious ideologies of Taoism, I do believe that Sun Tzu has much wisdom to offer which can be well applied to the classroom teacher and the struggles of education. I intend to step through The Art of War with the help of interpretations from a great website, Sonshi.com.

I will reveal new verses/passages from The Art of War in the order they are presented in the original works. Following each verse/passage, I will share commentaries for other scholars, notably the 11 recognized commentators of his work. After sharing the verse/passage and its interpretations and commentaries, I will add my own interpretation as I believe it can be applied in the modern day classroom.

It is my hope that others will read these blog posts and add their own thoughts and experiences as they relate to the particular verse/passage being investigated. Thorough this discussion, I hope we are able to improve the field of education by better equipping teachers to handle the ever changing adversity in the environment we face each day.

I hope you enjoy following and contributing to the discussions on this blog, but most of all I hope you are able to grow as a teacher as you reflect on the particular aspects of the job we will be discussing.
